TANDA TULA SAFARI CAMP
Tanda Tula Safari Camp is a luxurious, modern safari camp in the heart of the greater Kruger National Park.
Tanda Tula was launched in 1978.
44 years of transformation has brought us to where we are now: a modern camp inspired by Africans, delivered by Africans, and co-owned by Africans.
Up-close encounters with iconic and endangered animals.
Meaningful conversations with passionate South African conservationists.
And the peace of wild things.
We help protect over 55,000 hectares of land within the world-famous Greater Kruger National Park, one of the world’s finest and most extensive wildlife sanctuaries.
Accommodation at Tanda Tula Safari Camp:
Nine hybrid canvas and glass suites open to an endlessly entertaining but incredibly peaceful bushveld setting.
A secluded hide.
An inviting library.
An open-air bar.
Places to gather.
Or to be alone.
Safari camps shouldn’t just be beautiful.
They should be designed to immerse us in nature and feed our senses.
Newly rearchitected Tanda Tula Safari Camp takes full advantage of its position on the Nhlaralumi River in South Africa’s Timbavati Private Nature Reserve to create intimate guest experiences across the breadth of the camp.
Expect breathtaking natural light.
Walls that disappear.
Shades and textures that reflect your wild surroundings.
The deep aubergine of a purple pod cluster leaf.
Wonderfully textured wood.
The green shades of the silver cluster leaf trees.
The intricate patterns in traditional Tsonga design.
Contemporary local art. Fine linens.
The pulse of the wild. And it’s deep calm.
Each suite is positioned overlooking the stunning Nhlaralumi riverbed with sweeping views of the bush.

And rest.
For the curious to learn about nature.
Or just to absorb the atmosphere.
Watch a matriarch and her calves digging in a riverbed.
Sip a sundowner G&T at Sunset Plains.
Taste the tang of the first ripe marulas.
Scour the soil for the tracks of wild dogs.
Have your worries massaged away in our Wellness Nest.
Feed your senses on a quintessentially South African food journey.
Connect with people in the camp.
Or quietly retreat in solitude with a book.
We will tailor your experience to meet any need, quirk, or obsession – for families, photographers, big-cat seekers, avid birders, enthusiastic trackers, or other special-interest travelers.
Guided walks through the wilds of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve are more deep immersions than strenuous hikes.
Lead by nature – and our most experienced and passionate guides – you’ll rediscover what it means to be wild.
You’ll experience nature’s finer details.
It’s expert artistry.
It’s an everyday miracle.
And your sense of wonder and curiosity as the experience wakens dormant senses.
And you come fully alive.
Tracking is the first science.
It’s the language of our ancestors.
And one that our expert trackers still speak fluently.
It helps them find animals for you to see.
But it’s also so much more than that.
It’s a way of being in the world that is alert.
Tuned in.
Empathetic.
A never-ending conversation with the land.
And something you can experience and learn about firsthand at Tanda Tula.
